From desert lakes and monumental rivers to alpine peaks and spring-fed oases, our collections bring together some of the country’s most unforgettable outdoor experiences.

Whether you’re dreaming of a houseboat stay under the stars, a paddle past national monuments, or something else entirely – you’ll find it amongst these United States adventures that are part of the Adventures Unbound family.

Why Choose Adventures Unbound for Your Unique Adventures in the US?

Our various ‘collections’ stretch across America, linking deserts, mountains, coasts, and springs. Imagine paddling at sunrise in the nation’s capital, or spending a day on a desert lake under open skies, and waking up to mountain mornings and the unmistakable aroma of pine. Each stop promises an adventure: get outdoors, explore beyond the usual views, and come back with new memories to treasure.

From deserts to coastlines, these collections help you choose your adventure. They then match you with the perfect spot to enjoy it. Some days are perfect for a slow paddle and a picnic. Others are better for big hikes with great views and a bit of a challenge.

Wherever you land, we keep it simple: immersive experiences, comfortable bases, and friendly teams who help you plan the details.

The Canyon Collection – Desert lakes & houseboat getaways

Adventures Unbound’s Canyon Collection invites you to Nevada and Arizona. It includes sites within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area – an NPS-managed area boasting peaks, gorges, lowlands, and two vast lakes.

Callville Bay Marina & Cottonwood Cove Resort

Lake Mead’s desert waters are an adventurer’s playground. Callville Bay Marina and Cottonwood Cove Resort put you close to hidden coves, cliff-lined bays, and wide-open skies.

Depending on the season, marina partners may offer on-the-water options (including houseboat stays), and you can also book slips for your own craft. If you plan to fish, make sure you have the right fishing licenses for these Nevada and Arizona waters.

A trip here means sun-soaked swims, shoreline picnics, and nights under starry desert skies – an easy way to make your unique adventure feel truly unforgettable.

Echo Bay RV Village & the Hoover Dam corridor

At Echo Bay RV Village, travelers can settle into full-hookup RV sites on Lake Mead’s northern shore. The village offers access to boating, fishing, and hiking trails. After days on the water, you can relax under dark desert skies that make for excellent stargazing.

The wider Canyon Collection also features rafting tours below the Hoover Dam – an unforgettable float beneath one of America’s engineering marvels.

The Capital Collection – Paddling past monuments in D.C.

The Capital Collection allows you to explore Washington, D.C., along with nearby locations in Maryland and Virginia. You can experience it all on the water, on bikes, or right by the city’s iconic sights.

Thompson Boat Center

The Thompson Boat Center sits at the confluence of Rock Creek and the Potomac River, offering kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and rowing hulls for rental. Staff run classes for all skill levels, and you’ll often see rowing crews training here, too.

Paddle upstream for a tranquil workout or downstream toward the city for views of historic bridges and memorials – either way, you’ll discover a side of Washington few visitors ever see.

Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse

Tucked within the C&O Canal National Historical Park, Fletcher’s Cove Boathouse rents canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rowboats and bikes. This stretch of the Potomac is unusually calm and tree-lined, making it ideal for first-timers and anglers.

Off the water, hiking trails and picnic sites make it easy to turn a paddle into a full day’s activity in the great outdoors. The boathouse also connects visitors to other nearby Adventures Unbound properties.

James Creek Marina & Tidal Basin Boathouse

James Creek Marina is a full-service marina near The Wharf in southwest D.C., combining boat rentals with docking, maintenance, and a vibrant community feel. Visitors can join sightseeing cruises along the Potomac or rent their own craft and explore hidden coves and riverside neighborhoods.

On the Tidal Basin, pedal-boat rentals let families float among cherry-blossom petals while gazing up at the Jefferson Memorial and other landmarks.

For more urban adventures, the Ballpark Boathouse and Key Bridge Boathouse offer kayaking near Nationals Park or under the historic Key Bridge.

The Lodge at Stehekin

Reachable only by boat, seaplane, or an epic hike, the Lodge at Stehekin sits at the far end of Lake Chelan. In fact, travelers often take a ferry across what is one of America’s deepest lakes (Lake Chelan reaches 1,486 feet at its deepest), watching for bald eagles and mountain goats.

Once there, you can enjoy activities such as hiking the Lakeshore Trail, kayaking to secluded beaches, and touring the historic Buckner Orchard.

Mount Rainier National Park Inn

This century-old inn blends rustic architecture with its forested surroundings. Rooms even come without televisions or internet to encourage guests to reconnect with nature during their stay.

You might work up an appetite once you venture outside, but whether you choose to hike the old-growth trails, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in winter, or simply take in mountain views from the veranda, the on-site restaurant keeps things simple and satisfying. It’s the perfect way to refuel after a trail day without leaving the park.

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Stretching for about 130 miles along the Columbia River, Lake Roosevelt is one of Washington’s largest lakes.

The park’s mix of pine forests and open water invites visitors to swim, boat, fish, and camp. Boating and seasonal rentals are available through local operators – just remember to check what’s running before you arrive.

Natick Boathouse

At Natick Boathouse, tucked inside Cochituate State Park in Massachusetts, visitors can rent kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards to explore the park’s three connected lakes. The boathouse also offers sailing and paddling classes, making it a great fit for families and first-time paddlers.

Bear Mountain State Park & Watkins Glen State Park

Bear Mountain State Park sits about 45 miles north of New York City.

It’s known for panoramic Hudson River views and miles of hiking trails – including a stretch of the Appalachian Trail – and visitors to the park also have the option of renting pedal boats on Hessian Lake.

Elsewhere in the state, Watkins Glen State Park features a narrow gorge carved by glaciers; a trail winds past 19 different waterfalls and stone bridges that feel straight out of a fantasy map. Hiking through this misty canyon is an East Coast adventure you won’t forget.

The Pacifico Collection – California’s coastal wonders

A peaceful forest path with benches, glowing lights, and educational signs leading to a warmly lit visitor center among tall trees.

Big Sur & Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

Big Sur is where the mountains meet the sea. Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is located in a redwood canyon, covering about 1,346 acres of trails, riverbanks, and tall trees. It’s also close to Big Sur’s famous shoreline viewpoints.

The nearby Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is home to McWay Falls, an 80-foot waterfall that drops into a cove, making it one of the most memorable stops along Highway 1.

Partington Cove is another nearby favorite – reached via a short tunnel-walk, once there you have the chance to explore tide pools and kelp-lined water that reward anyone willing to go a little off the main road. Neither Julia Pfeffer Burns State Park or Partington Cove are Adventures Unbound destinations, but they are both easily visited from Big Sur Lodge at Pfeffer Big Sur State Park, one of the real jewels in our portfolio!

The Summit Collection – High‑altitude thrills

A snow-covered lodge nestled among pine trees, with majestic ski slopes in the background, perfect for a winter adventure.

The Lodge at Breckenridge

Perched above the town of Breckenridge in Colorado, this lodge blends rustic charm and modern amenities. Built in the mid-20th century and renovated into a premier retreat, it offers rooms with mountain-view balconies.

Guests can hike, ski, practice yoga, or explore the town of Breckenridge itself (including a distinctive historic district). It all makes the Lodge a perfect base for year-round Rocky Mountain adventures.

Giants Ridge Recreation Area

Minnesota’s Giants Ridge delivers all-season excitement. In summer, visitors can tackle championship golf courses, mountain-bike trails, disc golf, hiking routes, and a climbing wall. Winter brings downhill and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, and fat-tire biking.

Accommodations range from lodge rooms to lakeside villas, and the resort sits in the Northwoods with easy highway access.

The Sunshine Collection – Spring‑fed adventures

Sunrise on the beach

Blue Spring State Park

A designated manatee refuge in winter, Blue Spring is known for its clear water and the chance to spot wildlife along the St. Johns River.

Note that during winter manatee season, the spring run is closed to water activities like swimming and paddling. So, if you plan to spend the day in the water, check the current conditions before you go.

When it’s open, you can swim in the spring (the water stays about 72°F), launch a kayak or canoe, or take in the scenery from the trails and picnic areas.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

Established in 1947 and named after a Seminole phrase often translated as “little spring,” Weeki Wachee is famous for its underwater mermaid shows held in a 400-seat auditorium.

Families also flock to Buccaneer Bay’s water slides and lazy river, while nature lovers take river boat tours or kayak the spring-fed Weeki Wachee River to spot manatees, otters, and birds. It’s equal parts theme park and wild Florida, and a unique experience that’s well worth your time!

Wekiwa Springs State Park

Just north of Orlando, Wekiwa Springs offers a pristine escape with crystal-clear 72°F springs. Visitors can swim, snorkel, paddleboard, kayak, and watch wildlife along the Wekiva River, a National Wild and Scenic River.

Trails wind through longleaf pine forests and sandy scrub, and the park provides hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, and picnic areas – making it one of Florida’s most versatile adventure destinations.
